They’re back! The Hare Krishna’s return to Croome in a Bank Holiday spectacular

More than two decades after they sold Croome Court, the Hare Krishna’s are back for a festival which celebrates their time at Croome and their continuing relationship with the National Trust.

This massive weekend of food, fun, culture, celebration and dance kicks off on Saturday 27 August. Everyone’s invited to take part and thousands of visitors are expected to join in the festivities.

The Hare Krishna community owned Croome Court in the late 1970’s and early 1980s when it served as their national headquarters. After taking care of the estate and also stamping their own unique mark on it, the community there relocated to Bhaktivedanta Manor in Hertfordshire, which was donated to them by George Harrison of The Beatles.

Croome’s Hare Krishna Festival welcomes the community’s return for the weekend in a massive celebration of this fascinating period in Croome’s eclectic history.

“There are lots of activities to enjoy over the weekend and we’re really excited to be hosting this special festival at Croome,” said Amy Forster, House & Visitor Services Manager.

“There’ll be so much to see and do, from theatre performances and ‘Vegi, Steady Cook’ demonstrations to puppet shows and face painting. There’ll be free vegetarian food served by the Hare Krishnas too. It’s going to be a fantastic weekend and a completely unique experience.”

The festival runs from Saturday 27 until Sunday 28 August and starts at 11am each day. Croome’s garden and park will be open from 10am and the fun and activities will run until 9pm, guaranteeing a relaxing evening for all the family.

All the activities will be free and Croome’s admission prices will be reduced for the weekend: Adults £5, children £2.50 and family tickets £12 (admitting two adults and two children). National Trust members get free entry. Tickets can be bought from theticketsellers.co.uk or at Croome. More information on the festival can be found at www.croomeharekrishna.co.uk
