If someone had told me four years ago that I’d be walking the streets of Newcastle distributing books, I would’ve laughed.
I was the person who avoided eye contact and ran from anyone handing out leaflets. But something changed. After attending the Sacred Street Party a few times, I finally found the courage to distribute books for the first time.

It was an amazing experience, and I’d encourage anyone to try it.
Yes, I was nervous—worried I’d blunder my words—but I wasn’t afraid of rejection. Rejection is a part of life, and the presence of the other devotees made it easier. The kirtan and their encouragement powered me forward.

Even though I’m still learning, I spoke from the heart—sharing how the books and the Maha Mantra helped me. I picked up some helpful tips, like handing the book directly to someone and letting them feel its magic. Donations are helpful to continue this service, but not everyone can afford a book—and that’s okay.

I met many people:

A rugby team who planned to chant before their game

A stressed student who appreciated the books

A lady who had kept a Bhagavad Gita from the 1970s

A photographer whom I encouraged to visit the temple

Together, we planted seeds of Krishna Consciousness along the way.

It was a truly uplifting experience that left me wanting more. I’m eager to sponsor more books so others can benefit too.
