Official Statement — Hare Krishna Festivals UK FB Page

By UK GBC Secretary

Statement:

The Facebook (FB) page “HareKrishnaFestivalsUK” (please see visual below) set up in 2012 to be used exclusively by the Hare Krishna Festival Program and authorised team members to provide information to the public on its behalf, has been usurped by a former Hare Krishna Festival Team member and is no longer under the jurisdiction and authority of the Hare Krishna Festival Team.

The Hare Krishna Festival Team, through the FB page, have been continuing the work of Tribhuvanatha Prabhu, the founder of the original Festival Program, authorised by Srila Prabhupada and which falls within the framework of ISKCON UK.

Despite several unsuccessful attempts to reclaim our rightful ownership of the FB page, the former Hare Krishna Festival Team member has abused the administrator rights granted (by the original creator of the page for Hare Krishna Festival purposes) to remove authorised individuals from assigned roles on the FB page and prohibit the Hare Krishna Festival Team access to create and post content.

The old FB page is now being used in a way that passes off as the original Hare Krishna Festivals, and infringes the use of the “ISKCON” and “Hare Krishna” registered trademarks, including copyright and goodwill gained over twenty years, resulting in the loss of the thousands of friends and followers linked to the now usurped FB page.

To avoid any further confusion and deception arising from the usurped FB page which may be providing inaccurate information and fraudulently using the names and identities of the Hare Krishna Festival Team members to promote its activities, we would like to direct you to the new FB page: “IskconFestivalsUK”
