We are currently looking for brand-new volunteers to help out for this year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Janmashtami festival, which this year falls on Friday 10th and Sunday 12th August. It is volunteers that make this festival happen- \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the largest festival of its kind outside of India. There are many ways you can help and if you didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t take part last year please come along to the fayre where you can find out what opportunities are available, meet others and register.<\/p>\n
We don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t just need help on the festival days either, there is plenty of service required between now and then! So why not take advantage of this special opportunity to serve Lord Krishna?<\/p>\n

Bhaktivedanta Manor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s spectacular Janmashtami festival is expected to attract over 60,000 pilgrims to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna on earth 5000 years ago. The festival will demonstrate the spiritual variety of India\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ancient Vedic culture in all its glory.<\/p>\n
On arrival, visitors will walk through the New Gokul farm complex, Europe\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s largest cow protection project, as they make their way to the colourful festival site. At the site, the main marquee will stage cultural dances and musical extravaganzas. Over 50,000 pilgrims will also eagerly queue in anticipation to greet Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda, the temple Deities, in the Manor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s exquisitely decorated shrine. Even the queue itself will be a spiritual experience, as it makes its way along a flowered walk-way around the Manor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s lake, with pilgrims admiring the illuminated displays of Krishna\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pastimes.<\/p>\n
Throughout the day, kitchen staff will be working solidly, preparing no less than 40,000 plates of prasadam (sacred vegetarian food) that will be distributed freely to all pilgrims. A dedicated children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s area will feature a mini \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcmain marquee\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 where children will perform carefully prepared shows and dances. An array of stalls and exhibits will display spiritual art and literature, while there will also be themed marquees providing lifestyle tips, such as a cruelty-free diet and a reduced environmental footprint.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
